In Herston, we undertook the challenging yet rewarding task of lifting and building under a Queenslander, adding a split-storey, two-level extension at the rear. This Brisbane building design project faced unique planning challenges, including restrictions from overland flood overlays and height limitations. Our innovative solution was to lift the existing house, creating valuable off-street parking and storage space below, and then extend it with a split-level addition at the back. This approach not only addressed the regulatory constraints but also maximized the use of space, enhancing the dwelling’s functionality and storage capabilities, showcasing our ability to navigate complex design challenges with creative and practical solutions.
